GA State Governor Recognition

Sri Shiva Durga Temple received recognition and appreciation from Hon. Brian P. Kemp GOVERNOR, GA.

Maha Kumbabhishekam was conducted at Sri Shiva Durga temple for 3 days on Aug 18th, 19th, 20th 2023. It is first of its kind in North Georgia Region.

The event was graced by the presence of several dignitaries – Hon Carter Barrett – Georgia State Representative (R), Hon. Todd Jones  – District 3 Commissioner, Sheriff Ron H. Freeman, Mr. Alred John – Forsyth County Commissioner, Mr. Kartik Bhat and Mr. Sebastian Barron – representing the Governor’s office. More than 18,000 devotees visited temple in the 3 days and took blessings from Ma Durga.

Sri Shiva Durga temple is also the first Hindu Temple in North Atlanta to have a recognition from Governor office. Hon. Governor Brian P. Kemp extended his warm regards to Sri Shiva Durga temple and called it as a beacon of light through out the cumming community and North Georgia.

Governor Brian Kemp also proclaimed 15th Aug as India Day in Georgia to record the success of the Indian community and celebrate the contributions of India and Indians across the stage of Georgia.

It was the first time that the Gaja (Elephant) puja was conducted in North Georgia as a symbol of Lord Ganesha to receive his blessings in the community. The event was celebrated with Vedic chants and prayers as per agama shastra for wellbeing of community. Many cultural performances, devotional songs brought vibes in devotees during the event.

Devotees has the opportunity to take the divine blessings and celebrate together with prasadam prepared for the occasion by the volunteers throughout the day. Special thanks go out to the sheriffs office and all the volunteers for ensuring that the celebrations are conducted peacefully and helped spread the message of community togetherness in North Georgia.
