Dhanurmasa Puja (Dec 15th thru Jan 13th)
Dear Devotees,
Sri Shiva Durga Temple is giving opportunity to all devotees to offer Puja to Lord Maha Vishnu early morning on all the days of Dhanurmasam.
Importance of Dhanurmasam
Dhanurmasam is a Solar month in the Hindu Calendar. It usually starts in mid of December and lasts for one month until mid of January. This year it falls between Dec 15th 2025 and Jan 13th 2026.
Dhanurmasa is considered as very auspicious month for Lord Shri Vishnu devotees. The devotees focus this month on devotional activities. Since Dhanurmasa falls at the end of Dhakshinayana (that lasts for six months), it is considered as the early hours of the day (Bramha Muhurtha), before Lord Vishnu wakes up from his Yoga Nidhra. It is believed that worshipping Lord Vishnu during this Bramha Muhurtha will invoke the blessing of the Lord.
Non devotional activities such as weddings and purchasing properties are usually avoided during this month, as the month is focussed on devotion and worship. “Vaikunta Ekadasi” which is the Shukla Ekdadai in the Dhanurmasa is a popular festival for Lord Sri Vishnu devotees.
